This morning, I was blessed to meet with two of God’s intercessors and two of God’s pastoral care workers.  During our time together, we shared.  We shared in simple terms where we are in need of prayer.  Some shared the burdens they find hardest to navigate and others shared the challenges they are currently facing.  A couple of us shared the ‘cost of loving’ and the prayer we are in need of because of those costs.

We shared an acknowledgement of the roles we each play and we talked about a desire that we all share; to serve ‘an audience of One’.  We each know that we cannot give in to the man-pleasing spirit and fully serve God.  It is critical that we seek God and his will before our own.

God calls both his intercessors and his pastoral care workers to listen well and to love well.  They listen, walk beside in critical situations, counsel and offer a prayer.  As God’s intercessors, we listen, we walk with over time, and we pray deeply for each of their concerns.  Sometimes, we pray over and over again on their behalf.

What a blessing it was to offer the gift of listening to one another as we met together.  What a blessing to validate the work we are called to do and to encourage one another.  I felt very blessed to intercede for them this morning.  I was thankful for the prayer they offered on our behalf.

I am reminded of Paul’s writings that we are all called to be part of the body of Christ; to work together for His Kingdom.  One of us is not more important than another.  We must all humbly serve together.  God may send a pastoral worker into your life when you really need someone to talk to; to have someone listen and offer Godly advice when you need it most.  He may send you an intercessor when he knows that you need HIM.  You need his intervention and someone to come to him in prayer on your behalf.

And God may send a pastoral care worker into the life of an intercessor to speak needed words of encouragement.  He may send an intercessor into the life of a pastoral care worker when they are the ones who need someone to intercede on their behalf.  Today, he sent us to each other.

Let us praise God that he designed us to be part of the body of Christ and to value and appreciate each other. Who do you need to appreciate today?
