Why prayer? Why not just forge ahead relentlessly on our own? God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect. Psalm 18:32
Why prayer? Why not just do things my own way? This God – his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him. 2 Sam 22:31
Why prayer? Will it really make a difference? The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. James 5:16
Why prayer? What if I don’t even know what to pray? For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. Romans 8:26
Why prayer? Is God even listening? And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 1 John 5:14 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16
Right now our world is filled with people who no longer have the strength to keep going on their own. Is that you? Many continually insist life must be done their way, yet even when they get their way it brings no relief. Have you felt that way? Those that are hurting inside continually seek to find something, anything, to fill the void inside them; to give them hope and joy.
Yet, they stop just short of praying and asking the one who can help, the one who would give them strength, who would provide direction, who could make a difference, to help them.
If this is you, stop listening to the lies of the enemy; lies that tell you no one is listening.
Friend, that is a lie! God is waiting. He is waiting to hear from YOU. He is listening, and if you no longer even know what to pray, he’s got that covered. He hears past your stops and starts. He understands your broken sentences that don’t even make sense to you. He hears you as soon as you begin the prayer.
If you’re thinking I don’t even know how to begin the prayer, let me help. Dear God…
As one of God’s intercessors, let me share with you, God is waiting. He wants to hear from you. You don’t need to search him out on social media or ask for his cell number. You won’t find him on 911. But, you will find him when you pray.
