What it Means to be Called to Pray

As one of God’s intercessors, I find myself in a multitude of places with many different people who have an array of needs to be taken to the Father in prayer.  There is no one place, one person, or one way to pray.  But, there is ONE God to whom we pray.

Let me just share for a moment with you that I have prayed with people in scheduled zoom times.  I’ve prayed with people in person in a quiet prayer chapel, and I’ve prayed with folks in a church and in a mission fellowship hall.  But...

God has also called me to pray with people in an airport, in a grocery store aisle, in an elevator and in a hallway of a culinary school.  I’ve prayed with people in a classroom and on a street corner.  I’ve prayed in homes and in hotels.  I’ve prayed with people outside in lawn chairs and standing under trees.

God has taken me to pray with people in Israel, Ireland, and Italy.  He’s taken me to pray in Colombia, in Peru, Mexico and in Ecuador.  I’ve prayed in the Amazon rain forest and in small shelters in India.  I’ve prayed in Spain and Hungary.  I’ve prayed in Poland, Austria, Canada and several places in the world that I am not at liberty to share.   I’m leaving in a few days to pray in Japan and other Asian countries. 

The Lord has had me pray with pastors, leaders, and missionaries.  He’s also had me pray with teachers, students and counselors.  He has called me to pray with family and with people I’ve known a long time and many people that I just met.  I’ve prayed with people I may never see again and laid my hands upon babies not yet even born to pray for them.  I’ve prayed with those who are wealthy and I’ve prayed with those who had nothing and hoped they would be fed after the prayer.

Here is something I’ve learned …  Everyone needs prayer because everyone needs God.  There is nowhere in the world I could go and no one in the world I could meet that does not need prayer because we all need God.  When God calls someone to be one of his intercessors we must be ready to go where we’ve never been, pray with those we’ve never met, and Praise the LORD for all the answers he continually brings.  Being called by God to be one of his intercessors is being blessed beyond measure.
