Do you want your prayers to be more effective?  Have you ever desired to pray a truly powerful prayer?  Most of God’s intercessors have desired both.  So, how do you get there?

First, let’s remember that Scripture tells us, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”  John 1:1

Take firm hold of that and then you’re ready for the next step.  Read, study and learn the Holy Scriptures; the Word of God.  If you haven’t spent much time in the Word, it is difficult to pray truly effective and powerful prayers.

As you come to know the Scriptures better, begin to apply them to your own life.  We need to be able to apply what we’ve learned.  After that you can move right on up to the next step of effective prayer.  Now, begin to look for God’s promises within the Scriptures.  Unlike man, God never breaks a promise!  If God promised, you can rest assured he meant it.

You’re now ready for the next important step.  Begin to pray the Word of God.  Don’t just read it.  Don’t just study it.  Don’t just memorize it, and don’t stop there, even after you’ve started applying it to your life.  Now it is time to PRAY God’s Word.

When we pray the Word of God back to him, something amazing happens.  Remember, the Word of God is filled with power.  When we pray God’s Word, our prayer becomes filled with power; not because we are so powerful, but because God is!  His Word is powerful.  This means his Words are more effective than our own in prayer.

Now, please don’t misunderstand.  The Lord does want to hear our words.  He does want to hear the passion we have for coming to him in prayer when we pray.  But, don’t miss out on leaning into the power of the Lord by praying his own Words.

Father God, you have told us that the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.  Today, Lord, help each one reading this blog learn to lean into you and pray your Holy Words.  Help us to humble ourselves before you, give us strength to resist the devil knowing then he will flee from us.  Draw us close to you as we eagerly wait for you to draw closer to us.  (James 4:7-8)  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
