Praying Fervently

...and without ceasing...

Today I am praying fervently.  Yet, another tragedy in our world has occurred.  This is not something that I need to pray nicely or sweetly about.  This is something I need to run directly to God about.  It’s a time to cry out to him and beseech him in prayer for the answers only he can bring.

I’m reminded that as an intercessor God has called me to kneel before him and pray without ceasing. If this sounds rather dramatic to you than I encourage you to read about those the Lord called who prayed in the Bible.  Read about Abraham and Moses’ prayers.  Read about Jeremiah and Elijah’s prayers.

They prayed fervently because they knew they could.  I know that I can go to God in prayer and he will hear me.  His Word promises that he will turn his ear and hear my prayers.  I think God is waiting on us to come to him; to pray with passion and to lay before him what we cannot do.  God is asking us to trust him and believe him enough to know that he can do even immeasurably more than we can even imagine.

If you are an intercessor, will you join me in going before the throne in heaven and crying out to our Lord to stop the evil in the Middle East, to bring about an end to the war and the hatred, to bring peace to Jerusalem?  Will you join me in praying that no more people will need to die at the hands of terrorists?

God can do this.  He is able.  Let us humble ourselves before him and cry out in prayer to the Lord God Almighty knowing and believing there is truly nothing he cannot do.  Let us put our hope in God.  Let us not stop praying.

I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night.  You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest.  Isaiah 62:6

If you are an intercessor than you know you are also a watchmen.

Today, remember those who are fighting, those who are being killed and those who are lost because they don’t yet know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Pray, friend.  Pray.
