Israel has a face

By Jacqui – One of God’s Intercessors

On my first trip to Israel our host spoke these unforgettable words, “When Israel has a face, you pray differently.” I have found this to be so very true. You see when someone mentions a country where you’ve never been and a hurting people that you’ve never met, you may struggle to make a connection.

Not so once that country has a face. You see I’ve walked on the ground in Israel. I’ve been to some of the schools and the government office buildings. I’ve walked through the neighborhoods, stayed with friends in their home and worshiped with the congregation. God has given me a connection.

This connection allows me to pray for a country that is currently experiencing great strife. I pray for the people there; especially for those who do not yet know Jesus as their Savior. I pray for my friends. My prayers are for all those involved and my heart is filled with compassion.

As one of God’s intercessors it is my calling to pray. Right now real people with real faces are hurting and lives are being torn apart in Israel.

In Psalm 122:6-9 we read: Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.” For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.” For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your prosperity.

Let us join together and pray as God has called us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Let us feel compassion in our hearts for the faces of those who live in Israel. May God guide our prayers.
