Life happens unexpectedly for most of us. One minute we think we have it all planned out and then… It’s the “and then…” that often brings us to our knees at the foot of the cross. It is there that we are reminded that this is not a surprise to God. He already knew what was going to happen. We just didn’t.
When these events happen we have a choice to make. We can become angry, depressed or anxious. Or, we can go to God in prayer. Unfortunately, many a wonderful God fearing person may forget in the midst of the “and then…” to stop and pray. They may think, “I need to pray” only to find themselves scrambling to figure out the “what’s next” on their own. They may mention prayer to others on their way to ask another person what they should do now. I know, I’ve been there.
It’s hard to stop in the middle of the road of “what’s next” and patiently come before God. So, today, I remind you, dear friend, God can do far more in those few minutes that you stop and come before him in prayer than you and an army of friends can, putting all your ideas together! When we stop and come before God seeking his help, his direction, his strength, we have all of heaven coming to help us!
If you are called to pray, as his intercessors are, then most likely the Lord will send you a gentle ‘alert’ that someone you know or care about is in need of prayer. Don’t wait. Now is the time to walk in obedience to God and pull them aside and pray with them. I love how the Lord not only knows the “and then…” is coming, but he often sends an intercessor to us right when we need one! That’s right. God loves us so much that he knows when we need someone to pray with us. When that someone comes and offers to pray with you, don’t hesitate, just allow them to pray. God is providing for you even in this.
