By Jacqui – One of God’s Intercessors
I love Easter morning! To wake up and realize all over again, that Christ the Lord has Risen! What an incredible joyous feeling. We have hope. We have the promise of salvation and eternal life because He Lives!
He lives. He lives for us because he died for us. He died for me. He died for you. On a cross towering high above the ground with nails in his hands and his feet; he died. Jesus was innocent. He was without sin. Yet, because of my sins, because of your sins; he died.
There was anguish that day. His mother cried and mourned the loss of her beloved son. His disciples stood gripped in the throes of grief as he cried out from the cross in the most heart wrenching prayer he ever uttered, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Mark 15:34
“…and the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom” Mark 15:38
I sit today and allow myself to feel the grief; the utter despair that must’ve engulfed those who loved him. As one who loves him now, I feel my own heartbeat within my chest at the grief, and I feel the tears brim my eyes and roll slowly downward at the memory of his death on the cross.
Why did God allow such pain? Without his death there would be no Resurrection. Without my Savior, there would be no eternal life. You see without Good Friday, there would be no Easter morning.
Now, let’s allow ourselves to feel the incredible joy the women must’ve felt when they learned He had risen! Their momentary disbelief followed by the sure knowledge that Christ the Lord had Risen!
“I serve a Risen Savior. He’s in the world today. I know that He is living, whatever men may say. I see His hand of mercy. I hear His voice of cheer and just the time I need Him, He’s always near. He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way. He lives! He lives! Salvation to impart. You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart!” (Song lyrics to the Hymn– He Lives)
Jesus Christ – the greatest intercessor of all. It is in His name, we pray.
