Where Two or More Are Gathered...

I have been in prayer all throughout this day regarding a decision that must soon be made.  There have been times that I’ve stopped praying about it so I could pray for the concerns of others who are in need of prayer.  But, I’ve found myself returning time and again to praying over this decision.

For a time, I went to my prayer grove to walk and pray aloud for the leaders of our mission organization.  After lifting each one up and praying for them and their ministries, I continued walking and began once again to pray seeking God’s guidance in what I am to do.

The only clarity I have had thus far is that God clearly doesn’t want me to make this decision before the 17th.  That is tomorrow.  The decision must be made before noon on the 18th.  God knows exactly what he is doing, and I’m quite sure he has a plan.  I just haven’t been fully informed of what it is, yet.

I am blessed to know a few other intercessors.  Thank you, God for that!  So, I called one of God’s intercessors and asked her if she would pray with me.  She said, “Sure, what are we praying about?”  What a great answer from a faithful intercessor!  I shared just a little about the decision I must soon make and together we prayed.

Now, friend, I know that the Lord has been with me all day.  I know that he’s heard every word I’ve prayed and I’ve no doubt that he will answer.  But, it is his word that reminded me that it is good to pray where two or more are gathered.  Together, we brought this decision before the Lord and together it was surrendered to his will.

If you, too, are praying about something over and over (and yes, God’s word does tell us to persevere in prayer), I encourage you to reach out to another intercessor or a person of prayer who will pray with you.  Their prayer will likely not be more powerful than yours has been, but God loves to hear his children pray together.

Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.  For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.  Matthew 18:19-20
