By Jacqui – One of God’s Intercessors
Earlier this week, I was anointed to lead World Intercessors. So, what does this mean?
Anointing involves the use of precious oil and prayers. It is like the precious oil on the head, running down the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes! Psalm 133:2
It is symbolic of the Spirit of the Lord coming upon a person when God has called them for a specific task. God told Moses to anoint Aaron to become the priest for the Hebrew people. He called Samuel to anoint David to be king.
During my anointing I was prayed over by those who have gone before me on the mission field, by those who have served where I have not yet gone, and by those who will be walking with me on this journey. These were beautiful prayers spoken over me. I was humbled and I am grateful to an Almighty God who has called me to serve him.
A few days prior to my anointing, I reminded God of all that I am not. He then reminded me of all that he is! In receiving this anointing, I have received the gift of the Holy Spirit to work through me. Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the LORD rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah. 1 Sam 16:13
I remain feeling humbled and at the same time excited to see where God will lead me. I praise him for the answers to the prayers that will come and for the way he will be glorified in the answers he brings. I ask the Lord to create a clean heart in me and to renew a steadfast spirit within me that I may serve him well.
